Late 1700s Mourning Ring, Miniature of Ship and Anchor, with Hair and Sepia Decoration, 9K (sold)

It’s been a while since we’ve had a nice Georgian-era mourning ring.  Over the years we’ve had a number with urns and willows— the most typical imagery for 18th century mourning.  But ships are very uncommon.  In relation to mourning, they’re generally a symbol for passage into the afterlife.  The foreground of the image here sets up an additional allusion, with an anchor resting on the shore acting as a symbol of hope for those left behind.

If you look carefully, the image is composed mostly of sepia ink on ivory, but the golden details in the ship are tiny bits of hair.

Perpetual motion

Everything and everyone are in perpetual motion. Nothing is stagnant. You can either adapt, run, or sit still and lie to yourself.

Open your eyes and understand your surroundings. We only have jurisdiction over ourselves. Thinking we can change anything outside of our own personal heads and force an outcome is ignorant. This behavior is a fast track to self sabotage.

You’re wasting so much of your life.

…and I will build these walls up even higher although you ask me to let you in. It’s the only way to put an end to the pain.

)(#@*&$

I just wanna go outside and scream “FUCK” as loud as I can.  For some reason I just can’t seem to blow off enough steam from my angst no matter what I do lately.  I’m ready to punch an old lady in the tits. (Quote from Skins *UK*)
